Massage Therapy
What is Massage Therapy?
Massage therapy is an alternative health choice that can optimize the health of individuals thru preventative care, treatment of existing ailments and relaxation of the mind and body.
Massage is the assessment and manipulation of soft tissues. This includes skin, connective tissues, muscles, tendons and ligaments. Our minds and our bodies are interconnected, so soothing our bodies can help ease our minds.
Massage therapy consists of several different types of therapy to address different conditions, see below for more detail:
Hot Stone Massage:
Hot Stone Massage is a gentle massage using warm oils and hot stones to relax your muscles and take away all tensions and stresses in your whole body. The hot rocks are placed on the body as well as become extensions of the practitioner's hands. Therefore, this experience takes on an entirely different feeling as a general hand massage.
Manual Lymph Drainage:
Manual lymph drainage is a gentle technique to decrease swelling due to injury or surgery and can also help with draining areas of congestion (including sinuses). This helps decrease healing time and returns you to your normal routine more quickly.
Pregnancy Massage:
Massage therapy helps to relieve the discomforts of pregnancy, including back ache, sore shoulders/neck, tense legs and tender breasts - or whatever your body has done to adapt to the growing body inside!
Infant Massage Instruction:
This session will introduce massage to the baby and teach the parents how to do massage. It establishes a strong bond between you and your infant. Massage can ease the symptoms of gas and colic. (45 min - manual included)
Breast Massage:
Breast massage helps maintain healthy breast tissue. Massage can treat swollen, tender or congested breasts especially from PMS or relating to pregnancy.
Aromatherapy:
Aromatherapy is the application of essential oils to lotion during the massage to include additional benefits to the massage experience.
Myofascial Release:
Releasing the adhesions within the fascia, allowing more range of motion and strength.
